We are more than half way through 2015 and right before we know it, we will be preparing for the New Year once again. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, did you make a resolution at the start of this year? If so, you might had great hopes of making a fitter you. Some of you may not have reached that goal or you started to and hit a road block.

This unfortunate reality happens year after year and according to an article from Psychology Today, we experience the false hope syndrome. It’s where we make resolutions that are unrealistic of us achieving because they are so far beyond our normal selves. While we all want to keep our resolutions because of their positive effects, it can be a lot harder to do than say. However, you don’t have to wait to start a New Year’s Resolution in the months to come, you can start now instead of waiting. Check out these three ways to make exercising a daily habit!

PHONE REMINDERS- More than likely your phone is the first thing you touch when you wake up and the last thing to put down at night so why not put it to good use? You phone can serve as a powerful reminder to get you to the gym to workout. Just like all those other reminders you get throughout the day like paying a bill or sending an important email, you can set your phone up to remind you to exercise. Take the time to figure out where a trip to the gym can fit in your schedule – whether it’s before/after work, dinner or school and make it a timed alert. Additionally, make a workout playlist to help you power through your exercise session!

GYM BAG BY THE DOOR- We all know that getting in gear to exercise daily can be tough which is why you need to get motivated. But how can you self-motivate? Simple: obstruction. What’s more frustrating than leaving your house and constantly having to move things away from the front door? Well, that’s exactly what you’re going to have to do. Place your gym bag that has everything you need (water bottle, sneakers, headphones, etc.) right at the front door.

This will force you to pick up your belongings and head to one of the best gyms in Philadelphia! Right before you go to bed each night, get everything you need for the gym and put them in front of the door. But of course, put safety first and if you have a table or chair near the door, place the gym bag there as an alternative.

PARTNER UP- Having a gym partner is another great way to make exercising a part of your daily routine. Whether it’s your roommate, spouse, friend or colleague, you can plan the time and days you will meet up for a good workout. This also gives you the responsibility of holding up your end of the deal to be there for that person too! But if you run into a situation where you can only go alone, enlist the help of a personal trainer because then you will still have someone to rely on at the gym.
